Arithmetic on superelliptic curves

چکیده
superelliptic curves, jacobians, cryptography, discrete logarithm problem In this paper we present an efficient, polynomial-time method to perform calculations in the divisor class group of a curve which has a single point on its normalization above infinity. In particular, we provide a unique representation of divisor classes and an algorithm for reducing a divisor on such a curve to its corresponding representative. Such curves include the case of elliptic, odd-degree hyperelliptic and superelliptic curves.

Fast Jacobian Group Arithmetic on CabCurves
The goal of this paper is to describe a practical and eecient algorithm for computing in the Jacobian of a large class of algebraic curves over a nite eld. For elliptic and hyperelliptic curves, there exists an algorithm for performing Jaco-bian group arithmetic in O(g 2) operations in the base eld, where g is the genus of a curve. The main problem in this paper is whether there exists a method...
متن کاملImplementing the Arithmetic of C3, 4Curves
We provide explicit formulae for realising the group law in Jacobians of superelliptic curves of genus 3 and C3,4 curves. It is shown that two distinct elements in the Jacobian of a C3,4 curve can be added with 150 multiplications and 2 inversions in the field of definition of the curve, while an element can be doubled with 174 multiplications and 2 inversions. In superelliptic curves, 10 multi...
متن کاملThe arithmetic of Jacobian groups of superelliptic cubics
We present two algorithms for the arithmetic of cubic curves with a totally ramified prime at infinity. The first algorithm, inspired by Cantor’s reduction for hyperelliptic curves, is easily implemented with a few lines of code, making use of a polynomial arithmetic package. We prove explicit reducedness criteria for superelliptic curves of genus 3 and 4, which show the correctness of the algo...
متن کاملHomology of braid groups, the Burau representation, and points on superelliptic curves over finite fields
The (reduced) Burau representation Vn of the braid group Bn is obtained from the action of Bn on the homology of an infinite cyclic cover of the disc with n punctures. In this paper, we calculate H∗(Bn;Vn). Our topological calculation has the following arithmetic interpretation (which also has different algebraic proofs): the expected number of points on a random superelliptic curve of a fixed ...
متن کاملChabauty and the Mordell-Weil Sieve
These notes are based on lectures given at the “Arithmetic of Hyperelliptic Curves” workshop, Ohrid, Macedonia, 28 August–5 September 2014. They offer a brief (if somewhat imprecise) sketch of various methods for computing the set of rational points on a curve, focusing on Chabauty and the Mordell–Weil sieve.
